Question:What should I be doing NOW?
Answer:SEE CALENDAR BELOW!!
Reward:Stay on track for college
Submit the FAFSA if you haven't already done so. Ask your parents to complete their federal tax return so that you'll have your final financial records and can update any information, if necessary, when you receive your Student Aid Report (SAR). In addition, your college may ask to see your family's federal tax return to verify your eligibility for financial aid.
(Ref. Step 4 of '7 Steps to College')
Submit the Cal Grant GPA Verification Form, or confirm with your school that they will be submitting it electronically. The GPA Verification form must be completed in order to get a Cal Grant A, B, or C from the California Student Aid Commission. Pick up the GPA Verification form from your high school counseling office. Do not mail the GPA form until after your school has completed the School Section. Some schools handle this process for you, needing only your authorization.
Continue looking and applying for scholarships and grants.
Call each potential college to verify that your applications and financial aid information are complete. Some private colleges and universities have deadlines in February.
If you submitted your FAFSA online and provided an e-mail address, you will receive your multi-page SAR as soon as three days after submitting the FAFSA. Check your e-mail inbox regularly for your electronic Student Aid Report.
Follow the instructions if you need to correct or update any information. The SAR is your OFFICIAL confirmation that you have applied for federal financial aid so DON'T LOSE this report. Look it over carefully and send back PART II or update FAFSA on the Web if you need to change or correct anything.
